Speaking of being left behind, I feel like I need to call for Mya’s firing even though I love her and she brought it in the last few episodes. The last episode, she got a weird DM about her boyfriend Oliver, asking if they were exclusive. In this episode, she keeps trying to talk to him and about him off-camera or when the mics aren’t on. She pulls him aside and tells him to stop “mingling” with girls at the party.

For both he and I, this was our first time doing something like this. That whole being thrown into the fire aspect brings you closer to people. We’re also close in age and we kind of operate similarly outside of the house. We both go out together in the city and have the same sense of humor. Kyle and Carl can go through their late-30s, early-40s trajectory together and then Jesse and I could go through our goggles-in-the-pool-type moments and just let those two friendships exist together. How did it feel to open up about that on camera? I was on such a high with the Bleacher Report job. That was all anyone wanted to talk to me about at family dinners and going out to bars. It was a sick job, and I thought I was kind of untouchable. You self-identify with your job a lot, because that’s all people fucking talk to you about. Then that moment happens where you lose your job and obviously financially, that’s what we care about the most, but for me the most humbling part was socially having to unpack that story.

The episode ends as it does every year, with the whole cast lined up on the side of the pool (Mya with her boobs in her hands) and jumping into the water without a thought or a sober cell in their entire bodies. Strangely enough, any reservations I had about Carl and Lindsay’s relationship were assuaged as soon as they returned to the house after dipping out for the past two days. Carl tells us that feeling like he did something wrong during his engagement “broke him” and needed some space. Sometimes you’ll be in hard situations that you can’t just leave in the middle of. Cue Lindsay saying, “You can’t just fucking run away when the going gets tough. Gabby is approaching life with a fresh perspective. She is slowly freeing herself up to live life in a more open way. Her parents left their family home in New York last summer to pursue a new life for themselves in Texas. Feeling abandoned, she leans on her new friends in the house for support, but finds letting her guard down is harder than she expected. Lou is unrelenting with the hard truths, and I think he is the unsung hero of this whole saga. He tells Carl that as a minister, he counseled many couples, and if he counseled them, he would say that they shouldn’t get married, at least not yet.
He thought it would be easy to find another job, but it’s been more challenging than he expected. Season 7 of the Hamptons-set show was confirmed back in May. It was previously confirmed that Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke’s engagement was filmed for the new season of Summer House.
After Larl left (Lexit?), it seemed like an old Summer House episode. There was a sloppy dinner, where everyone was so hammered that no one had any excuse to cook — even if it was just bodega sushi. Kyle is trying to get Carl to calm down, telling him it will all work out. It was gorgeous and televised, and you got the ring for free. There will be a wedding, and your friends will be there, and it will work out.
I’m on her side because Danielle badmouthing her and Carl at their engagement party is an unforgivable offense for a friend, no matter how good. And yes, I agree with Danielle that she was there through all the breakups; she was always there for Lindsay, and she deserves some deference, but she lost that right with how she behaved just a few episodes back. The best part of Lindsay and Danielle’s fight was how the rest of the house crowded around for it. It starts with Amanda and Craig descending the stairs and perching on the bench by the front door to eavesdrop.
